IAIN ‘EWOK’ ROBINSON

Posted on December 8, 2025

South African artist iainEWOKrobinson has a can’t stop won’t stop approach to his work.

Originally a graffiti writing street artist, this multidimensional illustrator and designer has a hip-hop aesthetic that he applies to each project: making murals outdoors and indoors, customizing furniture and apparel, gallery exhibitions, illustrating and designing everything from logos to tattoos to comic book characters and concept art.

A passionate painter, his work can be found as far afield as the backstreets of Paris and the ghettos of Harare. Robinson holds a PGCE (Cum Laude) in Integrated Arts Education and continues to apply an ethos of teaching in his creative practice. In 2024 Ewok was awarded Honorary Lifetime Membership to the KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts.

Ewok’s mural team included Kevin Ngwenya, Riaaz Basson and Tatum Robinson.

Kevin Ngwenya also known professionally as Kev Seven, is a Durban Graffiti and Mural artist born in the Umlazi township south of Durban. From his roots in his city’s art scene during the early 2000’s, he became one of the key figures known nationally from his region.Ngwenga attended Nanda Sooben’s Centre For Fine Arts, Animation and Design in 2010.

After graduating with an Integrated Fine-Art and Graphic Design Diploma in 2010. he pursued a Bachelor of Arts Degree at The University of KwaZulu Natal, majoring in English, Media and Cultural Studies.

These disciplines created a symbiotic relationship between public arts, design and its impact and influences on modern pop-culture media in society. This dynamic fusion of graffiti, fine art, animation, and graphic design has revolutionized the public mural arts community.

With a unique ability to blend creativity and social impact, his work transcends traditional boundaries, bridging the gap between brands and underprivileged communities. KevSeven’s murals not only transform physical spaces but also inspire and uplift the hearts of those who experience them, leaving a lasting imprint on both urban landscapes and local culture.

Riaaz Basson, AKA Chromeline Media is an innovative and influential artist who started his creative journey in the early 2000 as a street tagger. Embracing his raw expression, Bassonhoned his unique style and flow with letters and lines, which laid the foundation for the captivating work he produces today.

Basson has risen from humble beginnings to establish himself as a revered and respected artist in the world of graffiti art in Durban. Driven by a passion for nurturing creativity, Basson is on a mission to create a course to inspire younger creatives to flourish in their artistic elements.

After a traditional Fine Art training in printmaking & painting, Tatum Robinson has evolved her artistic expression in many directions. She often creates with her husband and fellow artist, Radmer Lenasch, as @trueroutes and as @artgoround. Together, they have focused on collaborative art – working with each other, other artists and the public. Muraling is a more recent addition to her repertoire, as Tatum loves the dynamics of creating art in and for a public space. @scavenger.creative is her current online identity, sharing her more personal, playful and varied creative endeavors.
